Tournament Rules
NAME
- The league is known as LA LIGA DE GOLF
PARTICIPATING CLUBS
- The members and Committee are Aloha, Las Brisas, Los Naranjos, San Roque, La Reserva and La Zagaleta
- Any additions are to be approved unanimously by the Committee
ADMINISTRATOR
- Each year, the Committee will determine an Administrator for the first year 2026 Aloha will be the administrator
FORMAT OF PLAY
- Each club will play a home and away match against all the others.
- Matches will be played under the rules of Real Federación Española de Golf (RFEG). The format will be four-ball better ball match play, with teams of six pairs from each club.
- Strokes given/received will be as follows. The method of calculation will be in accordance with the guidelines issued by the RFEG, i.e. use the 95% of the slope table for each player and then take 100% of the differences in slope handicaps to determine strokes to be given/ received. The lowest handicapped player(s) give strokes to the other players in accordance with the above calculation.
- The order of play will be based on the selection of pairings by each of the competing Captains in each match. The home Captain only, for each match, may alter the order or change four ball opponents at their
discretion. - Matches are played from men’s tees using aproximate course length of between 5,600 mtrs. to 6,000 mtrs. All matches should be played on the same course
throughout the season, should a club have more than one course. - Both buggies and measuring devices, to measure distances alone, are permitted. ( maybe we should allow slope on Lasers and watches )
ORGANISATION
- The respective Captains are responsible for arranging dates for their matches between each club. Matches to be played during the calendar year, starting in January and concluding before mid December
- The selection of teams will be the responsibility of the respective Captains.
- Team captains will exchange their players’ RFEG licence numbers prior to the match.
- All players must be a member in good standing, of the club they are representing.
- No child or junior may play; the minimum age permitted being 21.
HANDICAPS
- All players must have an active RFEG handicap. The maximum handicap permitted is 18.0 plus/minus the 95% slope. Players with higher handicaps are eligible to play, but will play off the League´s maximum.
- Professionals without a “amateur” handicap will play of 0 from back tees or +2 from men’s tees.
- A small amount of players without a RFEG handicap will be allowed but these players must present their National hcp certificate . Maximum 2 players in a team pr game without Spanish federation licence)
- It is not allowed to put players together that results in player/s having more than one shot a hole.
SCORING
- Match scores will be as follows:
One point for the first nine holes played
One point for the second nine holes played
One point for the match
Half a point for a draw on first nine, second nine and / or match - The calculation of points will be based on the course front nine, back nine and match, notwithstanding the starting tee for individual matches. The result of each match will be based on the sum of the points earned by the six pairs forming the team.
- If any club cancels a match within seven days of the arranged date and no alternative date can be agreed, the points for the match will be awarded to the club that is available to play.
- A match can only be cancelled on the day if the course is closed or due to adverse weather by agreement between the two Captains. Changes of dates must be notified to the Administrator.
- When a match has been completed, the team Captains are responsible for notifying the result to the
Administrator within 12 hours using the Captains´ WhatsApp Group. - The Administrator will maintain all fixtures and results through the LA LIGA website.
HOSPITALITY
- All clubs will give the courtesy of the course to the visiting team, including free buggies. After each match, a seated lunch will be served by the home club, according
to that club’s best catering options. As far as possible matches to start with a minimum 3 tee start in order to have players arrive for lunch more or less same time
WINNER
- The winner of the LA LIGA will be the team, which wins the most points from matches played during the year.
- In the case of a draw, the winner will be the team that won more points against the club they draw with . If still equal it should be the most points away against same club . If still draw same system against the 3rd ranked club , etc.
ANNUAL PRIZE-GIVING
- The Trophy will be presented to the winning club in during an evening function hosted by La Sala
- The Administrator is responsible for the engraving of the trophy and the associated cost.
ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
- An AGM meeting can be called by any club with a 1 month warning . If necessary
